the pink bathroom

i have finally recovered from my crazy week and my crazy weekend and have put the finishing touches on the pink bathroom. It is no longer pink, and hasn't been for about a year but we still refer to it as such. As you can see the wall paper was a lovely shade of bright pink. The floor, which we had already taken up when this photo was taken, was a sheet vinyl painted cream and then sponge painted with the same shade of pink. I must say that the previous owner of this house had an unhealthy relationship with sponge painting!

Mid Wall paper stripping

The wall paper in this room was a complete pain to strip as it was wallpaper over wallpaper and it ultimately took me the better part of two weeks. We tiled the floor with marble mosaic tiles, replaced the sink, installed a new toilet, and painted. We did have our favorite plumber George do the sink as I had the faucet plumbing put in the walls and hung the sink to save space. I did want to wall paper this room but could not find a paper I was in love with so I painted and stenciled with a sheer metallic. I love the final effect as it changes in different lights and at some angles you cannot even see the pattern.

new kohler sink

new toilet and window sheer (looks out on front stoop)

mirror wall and new light fixtureWhen it came down to finding a mirror for this space I had a lot of difficulty, I finally found one i loved but it was too small, so I decided to collect a bunch of mirrors that I love and to cover the wall. This I cannot guarantee will ever be finished because I never know what I will find to add to my collection. I also love the way the light reflects in different directions and shapes from all the different mirrors.
